Get to Know Me
My name is Sara Askari and I am an Iranian who was born and raised in America. My first language was Farsi, and I learned English early on in school, then learned Spanish and French simultaneously by taking courses offered in school. I have always had a passion for languages and teaching, and feel privileged and honored to be able to share my gift with others. There is nothing I love more than seeing a student understand a concept they had previously struggled with. I taught myself how to read and write in Farsi when I was in fifth grade, and soon after began teaching my friends as well. The method I used to teach myself and my friends is the same one I use with my students now. I truly enjoy teaching and getting to know people, and I look forward to having the opportunity to help you!

How I Teach
Before beginning sessions, I get to know my students by asking their interests and specific needs and goals. At the beginning of the first session, I have my students create a Heart Map, which is a heart-shaped blank paper on which the students depict their interests. I then create a custom lesson plan specifically tailored to fit their learning needs and interests. Sessions typically last one hour and can be conducted virtually via Zoom or in-person in Sandy Springs. I make a strong effort to ensure that my students are challenged just the right amount and feel comfortable with the lesson.
